How the calculation works

1

Company level

Revenue minus salary cost (including employer contributions), business expenses, advisory fees, and any personal invoices gives taxable profit. Cyprus applies 15% corporate tax on this amount.

2

Dividend extraction

Net profit after corporate tax is distributed as dividends. Under Non-Dom status, no Special Defence Contribution (SDC) applies. Only 2.65% GHS is due, capped at €180,000 total income.

3

Salary (take-home)

Gross salary minus employee social insurance (8.8%) and GHS (2.65%). If salary stays below €19,500/year, no income tax applies. This is the employee net in hand.

4

Personal invoice

Each resident can invoice their own company for real services rendered. Up to the personal allowance (€19,500), no income tax applies. A powerful but often overlooked deduction.

Frequently asked questions

How does this Cyprus tax calculator work?
Enter your annual revenue, monthly salary drawn from the company, and itemised business expenses. The calculator computes: (1) taxable profit after deductions, (2) 15% corporate tax, (3) net profit available as dividends, (4) 2.65% GHS on dividends (Non-Dom residents pay 0% SDC), and (5) your total take-home. The result is your effective tax rate as a Cyprus Ltd owner under the Non-Dom regime.
What is the personal invoice deduction in the calculator?
A Cyprus resident can provide consulting services to their own company via a personal invoice (self-employed basis). Up to €19,500/year is tax-free under the personal income tax allowance. The calculator uses €15,600 per person as a conservative figure that clears all income tax. This is a common and legal tax planning mechanism. Each family member who provides real services can use their own allowance.
Does this calculator apply to Non-Dom residents only?
Yes. The calculator assumes Non-Dom status, which means 0% Special Defence Contribution (SDC) on dividends, and only 2.65% GHS on dividends. Non-Dom status is available to anyone who was not a Cyprus tax resident for 17 of the last 20 years before the current tax year. Most new relocators to Cyprus qualify immediately.
What corporate tax rate does Cyprus apply in 2026?
15% from 1 January 2026. The rate was raised from 12.5% to align with the OECD Pillar Two global minimum tax. The effective total burden (corporate + dividend GHS) is approximately 17.3% on €100k when taking dividends without salary under the simplest model.
How is the home office expense calculated?
Only 20% of home office costs are deductible as a business expense (the portion attributable to the workspace). The calculator applies this automatically. The other expense categories (car, travel, meals, equipment, software, health insurance) are fully deductible to the extent they are wholly and exclusively for business purposes.
Is social insurance included in this calculator?
Yes. Both employer and employee social insurance are included. The employer pays 8.8% SI + 2.0% Social Cohesion + 1.2% Redundancy + 0.5% Training + 2.9% GHS on the gross salary. The employee pays 8.8% SI + 2.65% GHS on salary. These are deducted from the company revenue before calculating taxable profit.
What is not included in this calculator?
This calculator does not include: income tax on salary (if salary is below €19,500, no income tax applies; the calculator uses a low enough default to stay below this threshold), VAT (collected on behalf of the state), transfer pricing rules for related-party transactions, personal income from sources outside the company, or municipal taxes. For personalised planning, consult a Cyprus-registered tax advisor.
Can I use this calculator for a freelancer without a company?
No. This calculator models a Cyprus private limited company (Ltd) where you are the director and sole shareholder. Freelancers (self-employed without a company) pay 16.6% social insurance + 2.65% GHS + income tax on net profit. For freelancers earning above €40-50k/year, incorporating a company is typically more tax-efficient.
