How to Search the Cyprus Company Register

The Cyprus company registrar — officially the Department of Registrar of Companies and Intellectual Property (DRCOR), and sometimes called the business registry, commercial registry or trade registry — keeps the public register of every Cyprus company. Anyone can search it to look up a company, find a registration number, or verify that a business is genuine and in good standing.

The official register of Cyprus companies is kept by the Department of Registrar of Companies and Intellectual Property (DRCOR). You can search it yourself, free, on the official DRCOR eFiling portal. Search by company name or by registration number (the "HE" number) to see whether a company exists, its status (active, under liquidation, or struck off), its registered office, and its directors and secretary.

Step 1 — Open the DRCOR eFiling portal and choose "Search / Ζητήματα Εταιρειών".

Step 2 — Enter the company name (or part of it) or the HE registration number.

Step 3 — Open the result to see the company status, incorporation date, registered address, and officers. You can order official certificates (for example a Certificate of Good Standing) for a small fee.

How to Check if a Company Name Is Available

Before you can register a Cyprus company, the name has to be approved by the Registrar. A name is rejected if it is identical or too similar to an existing company, or if it contains restricted words. Words such as "Bank", "Insurance", "Royal", "National", "Cooperative" or "Investment" need special approval, and misleading or offensive names are refused. Most private companies use a Private Limited Company (Ltd) ending.

Verify an Existing Cyprus Company (Due Diligence)

If you are dealing with a Cyprus company as a client, supplier or partner, the register lets you confirm it is genuine and in good standing. Check that the status is "active" (not struck off or in liquidation), that the registered office and directors match what you were told, and whether annual returns and financial statements have been filed. For contracts or banking you can order an official Certificate of Good Standing, which confirms the company exists and has met its filing obligations.

Cyprus Company Registration Numbers Explained

Every Cyprus company has a unique registration number prefixed with "HE" (for example HE 123456). This is issued by the Registrar on incorporation and is the fastest way to search the register unambiguously. It is separate from the company's Tax Identification Number (TIN) and its VAT number, which are issued later by the Tax Department.
